Chinese Firm Wins Tender for Kenya North Rift Road Construction
July 3, 2018
China National Aero-Technology International Engineering Corporation was recently awarded a $20 million contract to build a tarmac road connecting Kenya’s North Rift region to South Sudan.
The new Kitale-Namanjalala-‘Keriget-Chepchoina road will run 60 kilometers long. It is a major infrastructure improvement for the area that will principally support framing activities in the region. With no formal paved road available, local farmers typically have had to use donkeys to bring their crops to market.
Deputy President William Ruto is scheduled to approve the beginning of construction for the project sometime in July 2018.
